Alvi Nastaleeq

Alvi Nastaleeq, designed by Pakistani font designer Amjad Hussain Alvi from Alvi Technologies, is a modern Urdu font with a wide, sans serif style and small negative spaces. Released in 2007, it draws inspiration from both Nastaliq’s and Naskh’s scripts. With 252 characters and 16944 glyphs, it offers ample room for design variations. It supports various Unicode blocks and is compatible with Urdu, Arabic, Latin, and more languages. However, its availability in only a single font-weight can pose a challenge to its practicality. Best suited for short text due to its dynamic thickness, the font maintains a thick, impactful stroke that reminds one of the traditional Nastaliq scripts.
