PDMS Pencil Nafees

PDMS PencilNafees is an Urdu font intended for graphic design and publishing. The creator of this OpenType (TTF-flavoured) Urdu Nastaliq typeface is Pakistan Data Management Services’ Kashif Hisam. PDMS PencilNafees is a handwritten Urdu typeface with a distinct design giving the feel of handwritten text specifically with pencil, as its name suggests. It is based on the historic Nastaliq script, which is normally used for writing Persian, Arabic, and Urdu. It has a character set of 350 letters and symbols with a glyph count of 485 and support for Urdu and Latin. It is a relatively thin font with smooth curves and edges. What gives this font a natural feel is its varying space among letters and irregular strokes; however, the thickness throughout is static. It is highly readable but still has very little usability often used for design purposes rather than writing.
