JH Beirut

Bold - Naskh -

JH Beirut is an extra-bold Urdu/Arabic, offering a striking appearance. The font displays the elegance of Qalam Writing with modern influences. Although it is clear that it has drawn inspiration from the Naskh calligraphy, the sharpness and refined appearance add a contemporary touch. It was designed carefully by the type designer Joe Hatem, and the initial version of it was released in 2011. The font has large and filled letterforms with slanted starting points or edges and pointy tips or terminals. It has contrasting sharp and rounded corners with perfectly aligned letters, making it easy to read even from a distance.

JH Beirut offers heavy weight and solid strokes, making it highly legible for short text blocks or headlines. Its clear and straightforward letterforms make it suitable for headings, titles, and UI design where visibility is essential. This font includes 459 glyphs and supports languages like Arabic, Urdu, Latin, and Persian, making it useful for multilingual design projects. The font’s solid strokes change slightly in thickness, creating a strong yet approachable appearance. With its wide coverage of Unicode blocks, including Basic Latin and Arabic presentation forms, JH Beirut is highly adaptable. The letters are monospaced, with enough spacing to ensure clarity at various sizes. It works well for branding, book and magazine covers, and any project that requires bold and impactful text with clean readability.
