Arif is an open-source OpenType font that is known for its irregular chalk writing-like appearance. It was released under the copyrights of Axis SoftMedia Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, India, in 2008. The appearance of the font suggests it is written by hand on a board with chalk. The letters are separated with asymmetrical space thus, giving a highly untidy look. The font is highly readable yet cannot be used in professional writing or for digital or print media. It comes in two different styles:
- Arif Regular
- Arif Italic
It has a regular as well as an italic version. This type of font is often used to make horror posters and book covers due to its creepy look and feel. Moreover, it has 242 characters and is mostly used with the English language.
