Alqalam Jaan e Ishtiaq is an Urdu font that utilizes the Nastaliq script, known for its flowing lines and emphasis on vertical strokes. However, compared to some Nastaliq fonts, “Jaan-e-Ishtiaq” has a lighter and more delicate stroke weight. It was designed by a Pakistani calligrapher, Muhammad Ishtiaq Ali Attari, from Faisalabad, and released under the trademark Attari Qadri. It incorporates 219 characters with a generous glyph count of 407, giving enough room to fulfill many design needs. Although it is a Nastaliq font, it involves a few elements of the Naskh script that can be seen in a few characters showcasing horizontal emphasis. The font has sharp angles and pointy knife-like edges, giving it a clear and piercing look. It also incorporates a few serifs at terminals and a contrasting thickness, increasing its visual appeal on the screen. This type of font may not be ideal for long editorial texts; however, if you are looking for a font that gives your text a sharp look of traditional Arabic Qalam calligraphy, Alqalam Jaan e Ishtiaq is your perfect choice. It is available in only regular font size, but its compatibility with various languages increases its practicality.
