Janna LT is an Arabic font designed by Nadine Chahine, a font designer from Lebanon. Although it is based on the Kufi style, the letter form patterns also borrow elements from Ruqaa and Naskh. This Kufi style makes use of handwriting forms and subtle variations. Initially designed in 2004 as the American University of Beirut’s signature font, Janna means “heaven” in Arabic. Thus, while signage applications are the design’s main focus, they may also be effectively applied to several other uses, such as business logo and branding uses, advertising, making headlines, and more. Avenir by Adrian Frutiger, which is also used in the typeface, is Janna’s Latin companion. Along with supporting Arabic, Persian, and Urdu, the font also offers tabular and proportional numerals for those languages. It comes in two different weights, including:

It’s typeface stands out with strong, powerful strokes and open counters. Monotype Imaging Inc. or one of its affiliated companies owns this font. It has a large character set of 590 letters and symbols with a glyph count of 559 and has support for Arabic, Greek, Latin, and Urdu.
