A Shams

A Shams is a stylized and bold Persian font displaying a natural hand-written effect to some extent with subtle roundness overall. Developed by IrFont.ir and trademarked by mamadrezashams@Yahoo, it offers designers a head start to add an impactful and elegant vibe to their typographic projects. Although it is not strictly a calligraphic font yet, it has some influences of Naskh calligraphy, with modern elements, like a compact baseline and horizontal emphasis. With 217 glyphs and 261 characters, it supports Arabic, Latin, Urdu, and Persian languages, giving a diverse writing experience. The font’s thickness varies throughout, with vertical characters appearing thicker than horizontal ones, lending it a distinctive visual appeal.

A Shams features blunt corners with contrasting sharp and wide edges and soft, rounded terminals with decorative dases at starting edges. It offers only one weight, limiting its practicality, yet it can be used in titles, headings, poetry, social media posts, logos, and branding materials. While suitable for long text passages, it’s best used for short texts due to its thick appearance. Despite its boldness, this typeface maintains high legibility even at smaller resolutions, thanks to its monospaced spacing between letters.
