Arabic Typesetting

Rating
5/5

Arabic Typesetting is a new Arabic font designed by John Hudson and Mamoun Sakkal, released by Microsoft on May 3, 2021. Inspired by the Naskh script with modern influences, it has 1420 characters and 4645 glyphs, compatible with various languages, including Urdu, Arabic, Latin, and Persian. The font, which is also known as a Qalam writing font, is designed for high legibility on screens, even at small sizes, making it ideal for longer text blocks such as traditional book typography. It combines OpenType technology with traditional calligraphic and typographic models for fine typographic control and maximum readability. The font includes over 2,100 glyphs with contextual alternates, ligatures, and language-specific forms. It emphasizes clear and neatly designed outlines, graceful curves, blunt and rounded terminals, and a balance between thick and thin strokes. The font also includes Latin letters harmonizing with the Arabic script, creating a consistent and lively appearance for documents incorporating multiple languages. Arabic Typesetting is suitable for branding, advertising, books, newspapers, and formatting documents. Moreover, with its compatibility with modern Unicode blocks, the diversity and appeal of this font increase even more.
