El Messiri is a TrueType modern Arabic font family developed by Mohamed Gaber (Arabic), based on Jovanny Lemonad’s Latin and Cyrillic typeface Philosopher. It is a trademark of Kief Type Foundry and licensed in December, 2017. The Arabic began with the idea of creating a curving Arabic typeface inspired by the elegance of the traditional Naskh script and drawn with a brush rather than a typical bamboo pen. The idea evolved into broad counters that improve readability at lower text sizes, as well as subtle elements that make it an excellent display face at bigger sizes. El Messiri now comes in four weights which include:
- El Messiri Light
- El Messiri Regular
- El Messiri SemiBold
- El Messiri Bold
The Arabic component of the font includes a large glyph set that covers Arabic, Farsi, and Urdu. It comprises an extensive charset of 615 characters with a glyph count of 645. The letters are well-spaced with varying thicknesses which gives the font an elegant outlook. Plus, the slightly rounded corners, sharp terminals, and delicate strokes increase its visual appeal, making your text shine with whichever weight you use. It can be used widely in formal writing and document composition, invitations, branding, posters, and more.
