Sharmeen

Sharmeen, designed by Syed Manzar Hasan Zaidi and published by Axis Softmedia Pvt. Ltd., is a modern decorative font released on March 1, 2016. Drawing inspiration from the Naskh script with influences of Kufic, this font showcases distinctive square-like letterforms, giving it a unique and bold appearance. With 431 characters and 497 glyphs, it supports Arabic, Latin, Greek, and Symbols across various Unicode blocks. Although offering only one font weight (regular), this font offers high legibility on screens, making it suitable for various applications. However, its decorative nature makes it best suited for short text usage, where its boldness can make a statement.

The font features thick and constant thickness throughout, with impactful strokes enhancing its presence. Its monospaced design includes sharp corners and edges, adding to its contemporary feel. What sets Sharmeen apart is the presence of a crescent sign over each letter in a word, replacing traditional dots with five-cornered stars. This unique feature adds a distinctive touch, making it ideal for creative posters, especially those related to Ramadan or Islamic themes, book covers, and other design projects requiring a bold and decorative aesthetic.
