Ahmad LT is a modern Arabic headline typeface initially created by Linotype-Hell Ltd. in the early 1980s. Originally designed as a simplified face, it draws inspiration from the medieval period’s inscriptions and decorative tile work lettering. Notably, Ahmed departs from the traditional style by treating the tails of certain characters more boldly, adding a modern touch to the design. The contrasting proportions of tall vertical strokes and elongated counters give Ahmed a monumental appearance, making it effective for titling. The font is available in two weights, increasing its diversity and appeal. These weights are:
- Ahmed LT Regular
- Ahmed LT Outline Regular
Ahmad LT is a versatile font with 583 characters and 545 glyphs. It offers a normal font-weight and medium width, making it suitable for various design applications. With extensive Unicode blocks covering Basic Latin, Latin-1 Supplement, Latin Extended-A and B, Arabic, and more, it ensures compatibility across different platforms and applications. Moreover, recently, it was converted into the OpenType font format, ensuring its continued popularity for newspaper headings. The font includes Latin glyphs from Clearface Gothic Roman, allowing it to set text in both Western European and Arabic languages. It provides tabular and proportional Arabic, Persian, and Urdu numerals, along with tabular European (Latin) numerals. Considering its bold appearance in regular style, the font can be used in applications where we need immediate attention, such as headings in books, magazines, or newspapers, and for logo designing and branding purposes.
