Rating
5/5

Mehr Nastaliq Web is an OpenType Urdu Nastaliq font developed by Zeeshan Nasar. It was inspired by Nasrullah Mehr’s calligraphy and created in collaboration with ITU Punjab Pakistan. Released on January 2, 2021, the font offers 111 characters and 483 glyphs. With its direct influence of Nastaliq Calligraphy, the font supports various languages, including Arabic, Latin, Greek, Pashtu, and Urdu. Its elegant appearance, characterized by diagonal or oblique letterforms reminiscent of Qalam writing, lends a formal and refined look suitable for diverse applications.
The font’s thickness varies throughout the letterforms, mirroring the flow of Qalam strokes and creating contrasting thick and thin strokes. Despite its changing thickness, the font maintains high legibility on screens, even at smaller sizes, making it ideal for long textual blocks. Its monospaced letters with slightly rounded corners and thin, slanted edges contribute to its graceful aesthetic, perfect for Urdu poetry, calligraphy, creative posters, books, newspapers, and official documents. Mehr Nastaliq Web offers versatility and readability, making it a valuable tool for designers seeking a formal yet accessible Urdu Nastaliq font for their projects.
