Akram Unicode is a TrueType decorative Arabic font that is known for its traditional yet intricate appearance. It was designed by type designer Syed Manzar Hasan Zaidi. It is a modern interpretation of Kufic script and was released on October 10, 2017, under the copyrights of Axis SoftMedia Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, India. It has a vast character set of 444 and 497 glyphs. Compatible with various of the latest Unicode standards, its support goes beyond Arabic for Latin, Urdu, Greek, and more. Delving into the design elements of this ornamental font, the difference between thick and thin strokes is minimal, creating a more uniform and smooth appearance. The letters are wide and loosely spaced, creating an airier and more relaxed feel compared to tight letter spacing. Instead of being graceful and flowing, the curves have defined corners and straighter lines, often associated with modern or geometric styles. Moreover, the thickness is constant throughout, and the letters are bold and thick with intricate slithering movements like snakes in a few characters. This font is only perfect for short bursts of text rather than longer editorial blocks. So, you can use it to make impactful logos and signs or for branding purposes requiring a touch of heritage.
