Hisham LT

Rating
5/5

Hisham LT is a modern Arabic headline typeface that was created by Lebanese calligrapher Mr. Ahmed Maged and initially developed by Linotype-Hell Ltd. It is now available in OpenType format, offering a unique design characterized by a strong baseline and strategically placed cut-away effects, complemented by bold vertical strokes and dynamic diagonals. This compact font introduces a fresh style to Linotype’s collection of Arabic headline fonts. By including Latin glyphs from Optima Extra Black, Hisham enables users to set text in both Western European and Arabic languages seamlessly without the need to switch between fonts. Supporting Arabic, Persian, and Urdu, the font encompasses the Basic Latin character set (Western CP 1252 Latin 1/ANSI and Macintosh US Roman) alongside the Arabic character set (CP 1256). Additionally, it provides tabular and proportional numerals for Arabic, Persian, and Urdu, as well as tabular European (Latin) numerals. It is available in 2 different styles including:

  • Hisham LT
  • Hisham Latin Figures

Moreover, it offers a large character set of 595 letters and symbols with an extensive glyph count of 574 and supports various Unicode blocks across multiple platforms. With a strong stroke and consistent thickness, Hisham LT offers a single font weight that is ideal for short texts. While its legibility is high on screens, smaller sizes may lead to condensed text, posing readability challenges. However, the font finds its application in different design areas like logos, creative posters, book covers, newspaper headlines, and more.
