MB Abdul Lateef is a unique decorative Sindhi font with a wide and stripped letterform. An esteemed Pakistani calligrapher font designer, Sanaullah Mangnejo Sarem, developed it. Named after a former member of the Senate of Pakistan, Abdul Latif Ansari, it was trademarked by Ayesha Graphics. The font has an unusual appearance with contrasting thicknesses. The horizontal characters are made of thin, straight lines, whereas the vertical characters have a distinct pattern, hollow and stripped.
It is, however, inspired by the old calligraphy Naskh script, which is visible in its horizontal emphasis. The font presents an intricate look and feel with a wide character set and an extensive glyph count, making it valuable for various typographic requests. With its delicate strokes and ornamental appearance, this font displays a playful vibe, making it perfect for short text blocks rather than longer passages. Its low legibility on screens affects its usability and demand. However, it can be used for applications like digital calligraphy, decorative posters, branding purposes, book covers, and more.
Moreover, its wide Unicode support includes Latin characters, Greek symbols, math and currency signs, geometric shapes, and many others, which adds to its versatility. Furthermore, it offers compatibility with hundreds of languages, such as Arabic, Sindhi, Persian, Latin, and Urdu, providing a diverse typographical experience. However, the font is only available in regular font weight, which limits its adaptability. Therefore, it is not preferred to use for formal writing, as the text would be difficult to read and understand. Still, if you need to add a flair of playfulness and striking design elements to your plain and boring text, Sarem Abdul Latif Ansari is your perfect choice.
